We Spoke Jewish: A Legacy in Stories An exploration through art and story of the three waves of Jewish immigrants in the 20th century. We Spoke Jewish tells the stories of the Jews of early immigrant communities, the Holocaust survivors who came post-war and the immigrants from the former Soviet Union. Through story, it explores how they spoke Jewish through language, memory and culture, forming an important part of Jewish identity. This book is based on interviews with elders at Sholom, a Twin Cities residential facility with a Jewish flavor. Susan Weinberg, an artist as well as a writer, explores their words through both image and text, creating a multi-layered storytelling experience.
